Preparing for Hannibal’s Birthday Wine Event

OK, so Hannibal isn’t quite a year old, but what the heck, we’re off to Molesey Boat Club down at Hampton Court this afternoon and evening and will be cracking open 53 of our top wines from the range.  Really can’t wait as it’s not everyday that even we get to taste this many in one line up from our own portfolio.

Amongst the offering will be Leon Barral (these wines are super natural, bottled according to where the moon is positioned(!) and completely unfiltered.  I’ve had the bottles stood up all week to help them settle – what a treat!

Then there’s the brand new 2008 Amarone from Fabiano to warm the cockles – it’s huge!  And unsurprisingly it’s just won one of Italy’s top wine awards.

Others to look out for :

  • 2008 Chianti from Rodano – it’s not long ago that I was beginning to lose faith with Chianti, until Rodano walked into my life.
  • ‘Max’ and ‘Saskia’ from the fabulous Miles Mossop of South Africa – tasting ‘Max’ literally takes your breath away.
  • Pinot Noirs from New Zealand, Chile and South Africa – patently better value than similarly priced Burgundians

Taste, taste, taste!!!
