In some ways, a tamed beast – in others, the coolest panther in the range… Gran Reserva Syrah joins the already hugely popular Reserva Cabernet and Reserva Carmenere. But this Syrah is for lovers of massive wines and will blow you away.
The aromas are instantly recognisable – blackcurrant through and through. The prevailing flavours are black pepper, tobacco, linseed and sweet violet. The structured tannins and vibrant acidity mean that this wine will develop for many years.
The producer’s philosophy is quality over quantity – the best employers, the best employees, the purest fruit and the healthiest vines – altogether a winning combination.
Grapes are grown in the coolest part of Casablanca with full sun exposure, so ripening is long and even. 16 days’ maceration on skins before and after fermentation, the winemaker wants maximum extraction and character. The finished wine undergoes 100% French barrel ageing (one and two year old barrels), then bottled and rested for a further few months before release.
Awarded Chilean Winery of the Year by the International Wine & Spirit Competition in both 2013 and 2014 and now rated in the Top 50 Winery Destinations of Chile.
Best decanted before serving.
