Stellenbosch, South Africa

The gold rush of the 1800’s led to the discovery of tin beneath Jordan's Syrah vineyards. Indeed, an application to start prospecting and mining was submitted, threatening the entire Estate.  Fortunately, public support was overwhelming to protect the winelands and the application was thwarted.  'The Prospector' Syrah was created as a reminder of those uncertain times.

This wine was matured for 16 months in a combination of French and American aged barrels.  Look for notes of charcuterie and white pepper amongst an abundance of red fruit flavours.

Orange, New South Wales

The Architect has an aroma that is bright with hints of honey and nuances of vanilla and stone fruit.  The emphasis is on its buttery flavours rather than oak, drawing character from the time it spends on its lees and six months of barrel maturation.  It has a subtle yet generous character that is crying out to be savoured.

Our eyes simply light up when we taste the unique brilliance of Philip Shaw’s wines.  His Architect Chardonnay regularly battles it out with Burgundies valued at several times its price.  Can be decanted to enhance the enjoyment.

Rhone, France

Everything you expect from top Chateauneuf-du-Pape - stylish, bold, rich and elegant, with soft tannins and a long finish to boot.

Without getting too 'winey', look for notes of cherry and raspberry but also more savoury spices and liquorice.  Like the white equivalent, this is a glass of wine you can savour as it opens up layer by layer.

This vintage wont be around forever so I'd grab a couple of bottles for a rainy day too.  Ideally decant before enjoying.

Rhone, France

The rich, expressive, golden colour of this delightful white Chateauneuf-du-Pape gives you a hint of what to expect.  Although relatively young, the colour and flavours are deliciously developed with layer upon layer of unctuous flavour. Think dried apricots with savoury spices.  This is the sort of glass that you can sit down to and contemplate with your feet up and the dog curled up next to you.
