Saturday’s Tasting at Westside Lawn Tennis Club

,

My thanks to the 40 club members of Westside Tennis Club in Wimbledon, who put down their racquets and came along to our wine tasting last Saturday night.   What’s more, they acted as guinea pigs as we seek to develop our ‘non wine’ food goodies – delicious French saucisson sec, tasty crackers and a fine balsamic vinegar from the oldest producer in Modena, Italy.    More info on that in the next couple of days…..

Thirsty work, tennis!

Amongst the wines tasted, there was great support for the likes of Guy Allion’s Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire, Casas del Bosque Carmenere Reserva and a fabulous Rioja 2005 vintage from Gavanza.  But the STAR of the event went to an unbelievable newcomer from…… and here’s the humdinger……. good old Blighty!  Yup, the Three Choirs Willow Brook White from Gloucestershire stole the show and had everyone floored – and quite rightly so – a mouthwatering hit of tropical fruit flavours, fresh as a daisy and extremely more-ish….

Thanks Westside for your gracious hospitality to myself and the HB team.    We are already planning another event for the summer!
